LICCSAL BUSINESS COLLEGE - Overview LICCSAL, at its inception in the year 2000 started with eighteen students most of when were on scholarship from the proprietors. This college came about after the ten years civil war; a point in time when education was at its lowest ebb and there was the campaign for citizens to think about what they can do for their country and not what the country could do for them. The proprietors of this college after investigating some of the reasons that led to the war discovered that the low level of education and the high rate of illiteracy were key contributing factors for the war. LICCSAL’s founders having concern for their country and its development decided to make their own little input to the rebuilding of the nation. Thus, LICCSAL was born. We are recognized and approved to operate by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, yet we do not award or certify qualifications. All our qualifications and exams are set, approved, marked, and awarded by our affiliates and the listed examining bodies including the National Council for Technical and Vocational Awards in Sierra Leone. As a matter of fact, we have been in close partnership with the Institute of Commercial Management all the while and they have supported us by certifying all our qualifications and awards. LICCSAL started with few students offering two courses, which were Business Studies and Secretarial studies. Presently our course structure extends to areas such as Marketing, Mass Communication, Human Resources Management, Auditing and Taxation, Business Administration, Information Communication Technology, Marketing, Procurement, Accounting and Finance. The certificates, diplomas and other awards given at LICCSAL are internationally recognized. As an approved test centre of the Institute of Commercial Management (ICM) is operating in over 130 countries, LICCSAL is part of a network of several universities around the world such as the University of London, which has been in existence for 150 years and one of the first five universities in Europe, the University of South Africa which stands to be the largest university in Africa, we are certain that as we grow and develop, we may be able to offer both undergraduate and postgraduate programs (Bachelor and Masters). The demand for professionals with advance qualifications in the business sector is rapidly increasing in Sierra Leone and throughout the world and we need to capitalize in this area. With knowledge explosion in the world today, knowledge acquisition is compounded at an astronomical rate. And with the rapid use of technology, information becomes obsolete and must be continuously updated. Our distinguished lecturers begin with an initial evaluation and then structure a learning program to meet and build upon your individual needs, towards your individual goals. The group discussions, case studies and the give-and-take methods undoubtedly enrich student’s knowledge and experience. The world being a global village has placed increasing weight and importance on academic achievement; LICCSAL can provide you with the tools required to acquire these in a conscientious, well planned program.
